It's hard to be an all-in-one
desktop PC
if you're not sporting a touch-screen nowadays, and it's even harder to create a viable touch-based interface without being another Windows 7 PC with touch tacked on. Acer's newly unveiled Aspire Z5761, however, couples a sleek minimalist aluminum design with its home-brewed TouchPortal software to create something touch enthusiasts may want to consider.

Aspire Z5761 is a 23-inch widescreen all-in-one that displays in full 1080p HD. Internal hardware will include an assortment of Intel's 2nd generation Core i-processors, up to 1.5TB of SATA II hard drive space, and up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM. Connectivity options will include eight USB 2.0 ports, Bluetooth 2.1, TV-tuner (optional), 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, and Ethernet. A Blu-ray player will come as an alternative option to the included SuperMulti DVD drive. HD webcam, integrated microphone and speakers will also be among the standard options as well.
The aforementioned TouchPortal software will also provide users with a unique interface to encourage use of the system's touch capabilities. Applications within the overlaying Windows 7 software include things like TouchBrowser, TouchPhoto, TouchVideo, and so on. It will be interesting to find out how Acer's TouchPortal will stand up against HP's TouchSmart interface, featured on the
HP
TouchSmart 310-1000z.
Currently pricing stands at £799, which converts to about $1,304. The Aspire Z5761 is set to be released in May.
